ISO9001:2008 is coming to an end in September 2018. It is about time now to plan and get your organization moving toward getting itself certified to ISO9001:2015 if you had not done so.
From my experience as a consultant and an auditor I had found that the rush to be certified happens in the last six months before the deadline. The rush can be overwhelming and you could find yourself in a worst situation if you are unable to engage a certification body to audit your organization before the deadline.
Hence, it a good time to begin now and plan to have your organization ready for the certification audit by April 2018.
If you are already certified to ISO9001:2008 it would be an easier task to upgrade to ISO9001:2015. A major change is the requirement of establishing risk management processes in your organization. Another major change is the loosening on the requirement of mandatory documentations. A Quality Manual is now not mandatory.
It would also be a good time for ISO9001:2008 certified organization to combine and ‘do away’ with document procedures that are not required by the ISO9001:2015 and found to be non-value add to the organization.
